- Orleans is home to the 1890 French Cable Museum, containing artifacts pertaining to transatlantic communications
between France and America.
- A transatlantic cable was laid between Orleans and France in 1898.
- The origin of the towns name, Orleans, is unknown, but it is the only town with a French name on the Cape. All others are
Indian or English.
